I bought the David Velasco books and got them last week and just can't put them down !! I have been doing hair 20 years and got serious about hair color about 12 years ago, this education is the best out there bar none !!! So if you have been doing color for many years & think you might no all there is about hair color my advice is to purchase these books and you will see just all that we need to learn is in his education !!! Thanks David for giving us the info. you've learned through the years !!!

"This could be due to use of medication causing a build up on the hair, not allowing the colour to penetrate properly. Give the hair a deep cleansing shampoo prior to the service. Found that helps me."

Test Strand issues???

So I'm fairly new to cosmetology ( <4 years ) and I am really having some issues with color. I have been consistently doing test strands prior to color application and letting it process for 20+minutes. The color turns out very close to mine and the clients satisfaction.

At first, one may think that making someone a brunette is a simple task for a colorist to do. But the truth is that making a good, rich brunette can be very challenging. Again, as in every haircolor situation, porosity plays a major role in the making of a great brunette.
